Inexpensive Friday Night Fun

Do you have plans for this Friday evening yet? Downtown Springfield opens its art galleries to the public for the first Friday Art Walk each month from 6-10pm. It cost nothing and it's a great time to enjoy local art. Find a list of the galleries here. While you are downtown stop by Park Central Square and check out their Farmer's Market.

If you want to attend the Art Walk but don't have child care consider Family Art Night at the Downtown Y. The Downtown YMCA offers child care for children ages 3 months to 12 years old from 6:30-9 pm every First Friay night. The cost is only $10 per child and the Y offers snacks, story time and art projects to keep the kids busy. To preregister call (417) 862-8962 x. 149.

Free Movies at Founders Park

Every Friday & Saturday evening through August you can catch a free outdoor movie at Founders Park in Downtown Springfield, MO. All you need to do is pick up free tickets at the Chesterfield and Doling Family Centers, Mediacom Ice Park, the Busch Municipal Building, and Mediacom Offices (1533 S. Enterprise). If you don't pick up free tickets admission will cost $5 per person over the age of 5.
